Daily Tip:  Did you know wood mulch is a collector whereas rock is a conductor? When we see drainage issues, we use rock to move the water to a designated area. In our industry we say, “Water is dumb and lazy,” so we grade out an area for water to follow to a low spot or install a drainage basket to collect it. Standing water is always a nuisance but it can ruin your foundation if you have a poor drainage (negative grade) around your house. Colorado has bentonite in our soil which expands when wet, pushing up against your foundation and cracking it. Resale or repair is so discouraging.
