Landscaping Tips

Daily Tip: Did you know some of the most beautiful trees are the most dangerous? To a casual observer, when trees have two main stems (leaders) with the same size in diameter, they are susceptible to storm damage than other trees. These types of trees are called co-dominant. Co-dominant stems break more frequently in storms but when recognized early on, they can be easily remedied. In other words, if you see a “U” shape or “V” in your young tree, simply cut off one of the stems to prevent co-dominance to avoid expensive Arborist’s fees in the future. However, if you have a mature co-dominant tree, keep in mind that a “U” shape is safer than a “V” shape in your tree, but if you notice decay or any signs of failure, such as cracks, please contact us at 720-924-1010 for an assessment.
